Thank you, Mr Falker by Patricia Polacco

Cover Image
das ist das Buch, das Regan heute den Kids vorgelesen hat ... fast haette ich weinen muessen!

In this book a girl named Patricia fooled many, many good teachers up to 5th grade. She fooled the teachers by saying she was reading when she really was not. The reason she did not tell them was because she did not want them to think she was dumb, except for one teacher, Mr. Falker. Mr. Falker was Patricia's 5th grade teacher. In the beginning of the book Patricia's grandpa said, "Stand up little one" and drizzled honey on a small book. He did this for the whole family and now it was her turn. She dipped her finger into the honey and licked her finger. The grandpa asked, "What's that taste?" "Sweet." said Patricia. The whole family said, "And so is knowledge."

We think that in some parts it was sad and in other parts we felt happy for her. There is a surprise ending so try to figure it out. Patricia became a writer and illustrator.

We recommend this book to people who learned to read late because it does not matter if your level is lower than someone else's because everybody is different in different ways. So if someone is different do not make fun of them.

The illustrations in this book are smooth in some places and others rough. There are a lot of details in her pictures. We also think she uses a lot of shadows in her pictures. She blends colors in all different places and she uses a lot of dark colors. On one of the last pages, she does not care what size her stars were in the background. She made some big and some small.
